Moses Greeno, the subject of this week's "1874 Revisited" project, has a rather short biography, but reading it made me curious about the history of the Shawnee Mission schools. A quick Google search provided the following info about school district number 92, and what apparently (as seen below) was the first school in what became today's Shawnee Mission School District:…/History%20of%20Roesland%20School…

Moses Greeno,
is a native of Ohio; born in 1821; went to Iowa in 1840; came to Kansas in '55, locating in Atchison Co., and came to this county in '72, locating at the old Shawnee Mission. His occupation is that of a farmer. He went to Cal., in '50. returning in '53. In Oct., '48 he married Miss. Keturah Jenings of Iowa. He owns the old Shawnee Mission School buildings, view on page 83.
