JCGS is joining other organizations in the America 250 celebration of our nation’s independence. As a genealogy society, we are proud to honor the Revolutionary War Patriots found in our members’ family trees.

Our November 2026 Monthly Meeting will focus on these Patriots and their descendants within JCGS. We invite you to share the names of up to two verified Patriot ancestors—those supported by documentation, not just family stories. DAR records are often the best source, but books, Fold3, and other resources are also acceptable. If you think you have an ancestor, but are not sure, please let us know, and we may be able to provide a researcher to assist you in confirming the patriot.

Honored Patriots will be recognized with a quilt block bearing their name, along with a certificate and printed story. These will be presented to descendants at the November meeting.

We are also looking for volunteers to create 10-12” quilt blocks. These may be sewn by hand or machine; materials and center name blocks will be provided. Designs are up to you if making one for your ancestor – otherwise, we prefer 9-patch blocks.

We hope you’ll join us in celebrating the Revolutionary War Patriots among us this year!

To participate—whether submitting names or volunteering to quilt—please email info@jcgsks.org.
