I have 23,692 pictures on my iPhone as of this morning, going back 15 years. Darryl has 792. The difference? He saves the pictures on his computer and then deletes them from his phone, only keeping the ones he really wants to share. I save them to my computer but don’t take the time to delete them from my phone, thinking I might want them someday on my phone.
I recently read an article in Family Tree Magazine about organizing photos on your smartphone. I’m going to try their suggestion to delete in small batches. Each day, type the day’s date (e.g., June 7) into your smartphone’s Photos app’s search space. This should filter your photos to those taken on that date in previous years. Review the photos and delete the ones you don't need on the smartphone. Be ruthless! You can do this while waiting for an appointment or when watching TV.
